Over 20,000 low-income households living in co-operative housing across the country are in danger of losing their affordable homes as federal funding agreements come to an end.
At the Co-operative Housing Federation’s Fall Education Event in Winnipeg, Blair Hamilton, CHF Manitoba Program Manager and Douglas Wong, CHF Program Manager, Policy and Government Relations presented on anticipated changes to the Manitoba Rent Assist Program and the upcoming National Housing Strategy. They outlined the advocacy work CHF is doing on behalf of Canada’s 900 housing co-ops and emphasized the importance of lobbying MPs in advance of the anticipated National Housing Strategy – expected to be released in late November.
