At the November 4, 2017, Annual General Meeting, OGHC members elected new board members and approved a new membership structure.
Members elect board
Members in attendance elected our 2017-2018 OGHC Board of Directors. Five members put their names forward for five vacant positions. Sandra Hardy and Gord Clark had completed their two-year term and agreed to have their names stand again. Emily Ternette, Diane Wolfman, and Glenn Morison filled the positions left vacant by Sue Hudson, Laura Rempel, and Denis Bracken, who are not among the first wave of residents, which is now a requirement to be a board member. In her role as board chair, Sandra Hardy thanked Sue, Laura, and Denis for their important contributions in our development years.
At the first board meeting following the AGM, board members elected officers:
- Sandra Hardy, President
- Glenn Morison, Vice-President and Recording Secretary
- Gordon Clark, Treasurer
- Laura Sevenhuysen, Secretary
Members voted unanimously in favour of amending the OGHC Articles of Incorporation and By-laws regarding the definition of ‘co-op member.’ These changes mean that co-op residents will be the only voting members of OGHC. People who were previously considered members, but are not yet moving in, are now known as Friends of OGHC. Most of our Friends have joined the co-op to be on the Waiting List for a suite. However, a person can be a Friend even if they don’t plan to move in. Some long-time supporters of the co-op are in this situation.
