In early 2022 Old Grace Housing Co-operative was one of five Canadian housing cooperatives selected to participate with the Tamarack Institute (based out of the University of Waterloo) and the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada in a year-long project called Deepening Community. The project title perfectly reflects what OGHC hopes to achieve with our participation, along with setting the stage for us to develop our first post-construction strategic plan for the co-op.
Our Deepening Community Team included Denis Bracken, Gerry Wolfram, Lynne Pinterics, Jean Tinling, and Sandra Hardy. Over the course of the last year, they held events for children, solicited stories from members, and roundtables (which were facilitated by Kevin Freedman).
The team has completed its work. Its report was presented to the Board in January 2023 and can be found here.
Kevin Freedman’s report on the roundtables can be found here.
The stories that were submitted can be found here.
The Deepening Community team organized an afternoon of activities with the Co-op kids. Click here to read a poster describing the values that the kids identified.
The Board will now use the report as the basis for the development of a strategic plan.
